Mocha Joe’s
Mocha Joe’s, a specialty coffee roaster in Brattleboro, Vermont, reached out to me for a full website overhaul. They wanted a fresh site, built on WordPress, that seamlessly integrated with their Shopify store—all while showcasing their updated branding and packaging design.

The Project
The goal was to create a website that not only looked great but also worked effortlessly for both the Mocha Joe’s team and their customers. Built on WordPress with a smooth Shopify integration (at the client’s request), the site needed to reflect their refreshed brand identity while making online shopping easy. And we needed to do all of this within a very tight budget.
The Challenge
Due to the limited budget, I kept the design simple and focused on quick, efficient execution.
After conducting brief research, I identified a plugin that seamlessly integrated Shopify with WordPress, aligning with the project’s business requirements. This approach ensured a smooth and intuitive purchasing process for users.
Additionally, we collaborated to create a site that not only reflected their updated branding but also improved navigation compared to their previous website. These enhancements allowed users to browse offerings in a more organized shop and make purchases directly from the site.
The Process
Collaborating closely with the Mocha Joe’s team, I identified key goals and priorities for the project. Together, we outlined areas for improvement on the previous site and established objectives for the new one.
1. New Navigation & Page Layout
I began by analyzing the most frequently used pages and features on the site and designed a new navigation menu and page layouts to address the main issues within these areas. The site was designed and developed with ease of use in mind, enabling the Mocha Joe’s team to update and maintain it independently.
2. Integrating Shopify
After finalizing the sitemaps, mockups, and prototypes with the team, I developed the site within WordPress, successfully integrating Shopify via a plugin. I conducted thorough testing of the user journey, ensuring a seamless purchasing process, and verified that product updates and edits on Shopify were reflected correctly through the plugin, in the WordPress site.
3. Better User Experience
The new site launched with a user-friendly shopping experience powered by Shopify. Customers found the site easier to navigate, and the purchasing process was intuitive and efficient.
The Result
The final website was simple to maintain, aligned perfectly with the company’s updated brand standards, and leveraged Shopify as the primary product management tool. Despite the constraint of keeping WordPress as the main platform, and a tight budget, the project successfully met all of our goals.
